Bidding had closed and Guber had won.Chris Cohan sold the Golden State Warriors to the delight of Jeff Deeney the founder of the website http://sellcohan.com. He wanted the owner of The Golden State Warriors to be Ellison, but is happy that Cohan is no longer involved.
Guber is the former Sony Pictures chief who worked with Magic Johnson as a business partner. The Warriors, in Oakland, are still playing in the same arena as they have since 1976.
Guber is facing some tough questions as majority owner of the Warriors. Can his new franchise ever rise to the competitive level of the Lakers? Should he retain the current management staff?
Guber has his roots in the entertainment industry as the former chief of Sony Pictures, he produced the films The Color Purple, Batman, and Rain Man. He has been involved with minor league sports ownership since the 1990s.
Challenged by his new job as owner, he is committed to reward a strong fan base that ranked 11 in attendance even with the Warriors 26-56 record last season.
Guber is thrilled to be in the ownership role and said I believe we'll tap into this powerful Pacific Rim marketplace in the Bay Area, which has all the earmarks to be tremendously successful, and bring a winning attitude to this loyal fan base. We'll be doing what we should to fulfill what the promise is. - LA Times.com
